In partnership with the TreadRight Foundation, you will visit the Iraq al-Amir Women’s Coopertive where you will see the power of sustainable development in action. As many as 150 women from surrounding villages have been trained by the cooperative, which produces and sells heritage handicrafts for the tourism industry. You will learn about the cooperative’s goal to become a sustainable business and the stories of the women who the cooperative continues to help become financially independent.

Day 1 - Arrive Amman, Jordan

A warm welcome awaits you at Amman Airport where you will be transferred to your Amman hotel.

Day 2 - Amman

Amman, Jordan

Depart on a city tour of Amman, including a visit to Iraq al-Amir which is located about 9 miles southwest of the town of Wadi as-Seer. The area has many springs and is famous for its olive trees.

Afterwards, visit the Iraq al-Amir Women’s Cooperative, one of our MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences, and learn how they make soap from Olive Oil and greeting cards from recycled paper and enjoy a meal prepared by the local women. Continue to Jerash, known for the ruins of the walled Greco-Roman settlement of Gerasa just outside the modern city.
