Accommodation is in cottage-styled rooms surrounded by extensive landscaped grounds. Spacious and elegant, the rooms feature marble bathrooms, double French doors leading out into the gardens, leaded window, and large and comfortable beds. Once you’ve settled in you might want to take in the lovely surrounds with a walk, mountain biking or canoeing on the lake – all activities offered at the hotel.

Accommodation: Lake Duluti Serena Lodge - Standard Room

Day 2 - Arusha/Tarangire

After breakfast you will depart in your safari vehicle to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for lunch.

Your accommodation is at the 4-star Tarangire Sopa Lodge which lies hidden among the kopjes, ancient baobab and grasses of the Tarangire National Park - home to the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa.

When you arrive you are immediately aware of the large and spacious main lobby, with its cool marble floors and high vaulted ceilings. From here a short flight of steps takes you up a level and into the lounge and bar with floor to ceiling windows, an outdoor terrace where you can enjoy a drink at sunset.

The circular guest suites offer a sense of space and airiness, and wonderful views from their sheltered veranda. All suites have mosquito nets, private lounge with a mini bar and an extremely spacious, well-appointed bathroom.

This afternoon enjoy a game drive in Tarangire National Park.

Accommodation: Tarangire Sopa Lodge - Standard Room (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Tarangire National Park

Enjoy the morning at leisure. You may choose to take a Balloon Safari (weather dependent and optional extra – price available on request).

After lunch depart on a game drive in the Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire is well known for its huge herds of elephant – probably the greatest concentration in Africa - and buffalo, as well as lion, cheetah and leopard. There are actually 94 species of mammals and over 500 bird species to be found in this park! Your driver/guide is an experienced wildlife expert whose knowledge and ability to spot the animals and birds will astound you. Not knowing what you will see next is all part of the fun of a safari!

Make sure to always have your camera ready as elephants can sometimes be seen around the lodge, which means great photographic opportunities!

Day 4 - Tarangire/Manyara

After breakfast at the lodge you will depart on your drive to Manyara, by driving across the Rift Valley, arriving at the lodge in time for lunch. The rooms of Lake Manyara Serena Lodge are housed in white-washed ‘rondavels' (traditional circular buildings with thatched roofs), which are situated along the edge of the cliff so as to allow for the best views. Each spacious room has its own small veranda while the interior décor reflects the blue of the lake and the pink of the flamingos.

Lake Manyara Serena Lodge

In the afternoon take a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Stretching for 50km along the base of the rusty-gold 600-metre high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting praised by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.

The dense game-viewing circuit through Manyara offers a small-scale version of the Tanzanian safari experience. In the park the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys dart nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk noisily in the high canopy.

Return to the lodge in time to freshen up before dinner.

Accommodation: Lake Manyara Serena Lodge - Standard Room (B, L, D)

Day 5 - Lake Manyara National Park

Enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure or you can choose to take a tour to the local community (additional cost applicable).

After lunch take a game drive in Manyara National Park. Leopards, lions, cheetahs, elephants, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelle, hippo, giraffe, impala, and more inhabit the park and many can be seen throughout the year. The leopards and lions are both known to lounge in the trees while not hunting for prey.

Return to the lodge in time to freshen up before dinner.

Accommodation: Lake Manyara Serena Lodge - Standard Room (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Manyara/Serengeti

The adventure continues as you set off after breakfast to the vast plains of the Serengeti arriving at the lodge in time for lunch. You will probably start spotting game well before you get into the park. The Serengeti offers some of the most entertaining game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, impala and Grant's gazelle. Lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers.

Serena Safari Lodge
Serengeti Serena Lodge

Serengeti Serena Lodge offers comfortable rooms with awesome views across the sweeping plains. Inspired by a traditional African village, separate "rondavel huts" house the luxury en-suite guest rooms each with a balcony. Set high on the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti, this lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style. Winner of numerous awards from the world travel press, it is perhaps the finest venue the Serengeti has to offer.

You will take an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder, the vast Serengeti is famed for its great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Accommodation: Serengeti Serena Lodge - Standard Room (B, L, D)

Days 7 & 8 - Serengeti

Explore the grass plains during morning and afternoon game drives when the animals are most active. In the early morning watch hippos return to water; giraffes foraging from trees; and lions returning from the evening hunt to relax in the shade of a tree. In the afternoon look out for cheetahs, crocodiles and leopards.

During morning and afternoon game viewing activities you are able to observe and photograph the wildlife at your leisure. You might also choose to forfeit the morning game drive and replace it with a balloon safari (additional cost applies).

Day 9 - Serengeti/Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast depart on a drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, a remnant of an ancient volcano with one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, arriving at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge in time for lunch.

Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world' the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's best-known wildlife arenas. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time.

Stay at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, with its blend of luxury and ethnic style and offering stunning views. Hugging the contours of the jagged Crater rim, the lodge takes its inspiration from the so-called ‘Cradle of Mankind', the prehistoric site of Olduvai Gorge, which lies close by. Linked by arched stone passages and timbered decks, its walls are decorated with stylized prehistoric cave paintings and lit by flaring torches. At the stone heart of the lodge burns a glowing fire, which is kept constantly alight. Each room has its own rock- enclosed balcony, and all enjoy completely uninterrupted views of the volcanic amphitheater far below.

Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, some 25,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes and forests of ‘the land that time forgot', dominated by enormous bull elephants, rhinos and lions. Optional activities today include a Crater Rim walk or a visit to a Maasai Village – both at an additional cost).

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge - Standard Room (B, L, D)

Day 10 - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast descend through the early morning mist 2,000 feet into the crater for an awesome wildlife experience. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the crater, returning to the lodge in the late afternoon.

Ngorongoro Crater Maasai

Approximately 25,000 large animals, mostly ungulates, live in the crater, including the black Rhino, the Cape buffalo and Hippo. There also are many other ungulates: the wildebeest, Burchell's zebra, the common eland and Grant's and Thomson's gazelles. The crater also has one of the densest known populations of lion.

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge - Standard Room (B, L, D)

Day 11 - Ngorongoro/Arusha/Depart

Depart after breakfast and head to Arusha for lunch followed by a transfer to the airport to connect with your scheduled flight. (B, L)
