The Ultimate 14-Day African Adventure: City Sights, Game Drives, and the Mighty Victoria Falls
Review by Jean, Safari Specialist from Zimbabwe
My trip began in Cape Town, where the view from Table Mountain took my breath away. The dramatic cliffs & mountain views on the way to Cape Point, and the cute African Penguins at Boulders Beach - postcard moments. My evenings were alive with rhythm, fun & flavor – dining, face painting & drumming at Gold Restaurant, discovering hidden gems on Bree St., and taking in a 360-degree view on the Silo rooftop after exploring the inspiring Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa near the lively Victoria & Alfred waterfront. I was also able to take time & learn about important South African history with a visit to Robben Island.
Traveling to Botswana
Then came Botswana where surprisingly, serenity and adventure met. The wildlife viewing here is on another level! Every game drive was awesome. While staying at the beautiful tented Kadizora Camp in the Okavango Delta, a peaceful mokoro ride through mirrored waters felt timeless, while a helicopter ride revealed the delta's intricate channels and pathways. In Chobe, large herds of elephants lined up at the riverbanks. I have never seen so many elephants & hippos, and buffalo in one place.
Highlights from my Victoria Falls and Southern Africa Safari
The finale unfolded at Victoria Falls, where the mighty Moso-oa-Tunya thundered with mist and rainbows. The closing curtain - a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, complete with elephants swimming across glistening waters - was the perfect ending.
Everywhere I went, I met warm, friendly people whose kindness made the journey so special. I arrived back home with a heart full of gratitude and deep appreciation for the people and places that make southern Africa so extraordinary. I feel good that traveling with Lion World Travel automatically means you are giving back to the communities visited, helping ensure that our journeys make a meaningful impact.
What more can I say about such indescribable beauty - you just have to fly, see, hear, taste and feel it for yourself…

Frequently Asked Questions – Best of Cape Town and Botswana Safari with Victoria Falls
Q: When is the best time to visit Cape Town, Botswana, and Victoria Falls?
- A: The best time to travel depends on your priorities, as the peak seasons for each destination can vary:
- Botswana: May-Oct (dry season) is best for wildlife. Animals gather at permanent water (Okavango Delta, Chobe River), easier to spot in sparse vegetation.
- Victoria Falls: Feb-May: most powerful after summer rains. Aug-Jan (low-water): better for calmer views and experiencing Devil's Pool.
- Cape Town: Nov-Feb (summer): best sunny weather for beaches, Table Mountain, and the Cape Peninsula. Great escape from North American winter.
Q: What are the specific luggage restrictions and essential items to pack for a Botswana safari?
- A: Due to the small, light aircrafts used for transfers within Botswana's safari circuit (Okavango Delta, Chobe, etc.), strict luggage limits are enforced:
- Luggage Limit: Typically restricted to 20 kg (44 lbs) per person, including all hand luggage and camera equipment.
- Bag Type: You must use a soft-sided bag (without wheels or hard frames) as these are flexible and can be easily squeezed into the small cargo hold of the aircraft.
