The experience contributes to ending poverty in all its forms, everywhere through the partner conservancies of Shipwreck Lodge - the Puros Conservancy established in May 2000 and the Sesfontein Conservancy established in July 2003. Between the two conservancies they cover over 6,000 km2 and are predominantly made up of Ovahimba and Herero people.
By partnering with the conservancies Shipwreck Lodge has the opportunity to recruit lodge staff from these conservancies thus assisting with sustaining of multiple households. The business has also purchased hardy 4x4 vehicles to assist the conservancy with wildlife and environmental management.
In their capacity as landlords, the Conservancies are paid monthly fees based on 8% of turnover of the lodge business. Conservancies therefore also have a vested interest in the overall success of the lodge and the support they provide to the tourism business.
Day 1 - Arrive Windhoek, Namibia
On arrival in Windhoek you will be met by a Lion World Travel representative and transferred to the Heinitzburg Hotel overlooking Namibia's capital city Windhoek.

Day 2 Windhoek/Etosha
Fly to the impressive Etosha Heights Private Game Reserve.
Nestled on a hillside amongst Mopani trees overlooking a large waterhole and the vast expanse of Etosha, Safarihoek Lodge is a spacious and elegant lodge with the main building on an elevated deck to catch the breeze and positioned under vaulted thatch, allowing for infinite 180º views over the plains below.
Depart for an evening game drive in search of antelope, predators and birds. At the end of the day, sit around the African fire at the 'Boma' reminiscing about your adventures with the other guests.
Please Note: Luggage restrictions on all Namibia light aircarft transfer flights is 20kg/44lbs in soft bags - including hand luggage.

Day 3 - Etosha
Safari game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon where you can view lion, giraffe, ostrich, and hyena, as well as the elusive black and white rhino.
Later this evening, set out on a night game drive and discover the magic of the bush after dark.

Day 4 - Etosha
Spend some time in the photography hide and watch the animals going about their day, completely oblivious of your presence.

Day 5 - Etosha/Skeleton Coast
Fly to the desolate Skeleton Coast, and Shipwreck Lodge where miles of sandy desert, dotted with shipwrecks, meet the chilly Atlantic Ocean.
On game drives, despite the arid conditions, an amazing array of wildlife and plants survive in this harsh environment including desert-dwelling elephant and the elusive desert lion.

Day 6 - Skeleton Coast
Another day for a chance to explore this raw and rugged slice of African wilderness. Walk across the lunar landscapes and discover the secrets of the desert.

Day 7 - Skeleton Coast/Sossusvlei
Fly to the iconic red dunes of Sossusvlei and Little Kulala, a luxurious desert retreat situated in the private 67 000-acre Kulala Wilderness Reserve. There are 11 climate-controlled, thatched "kulalas" (the word means 'to sleep') each with private plunge pool, both indoor and outdoor showers and a rooftop star bed for romantic star gazing.
After lunch, depart on a late afternoon game drive in search of Oryx, springbok, bat-eared fox and the brown hyena. Stop for a sundowner just as the desert turns fiery red with the setting sun.
Note: Little Kulala is closed January - May. You will stay at Sossusvlei Desert Lodge for departures during that time.

Day 8 - Sossusvlei
Climb 'Big Daddy', one of the tallest dunes; explore Deadvlei, a white, salt, claypan dotted with ancient trees. After a picnic lunch, and a hike in the breathtaking Sesriem Canyon, return to camp for a siesta. Tonight, fall asleep under the Milky Way on the roof of your “kulala.”

Day 9 - Sossusvlei/Depart
Enjoy a leisurely morning, before your light aircraft flight to Windhoek. (B)

Enhance your African experience with a 3 or 4 night stay in Cape Town to allow sufficient time to experience all the city has to offer and to experience the diversity that is Africa.
Cape Town is the most popular tourist destination in South Africa due to its good climate, culture and scenic beauty. The city has several well-known natural features that attract tourists, most notably Table Mountain, for panoramic views of the city and Cape Point the dramatic headland at the end of the Cape Peninsula. Many tourists also drive along Chapman's Peak Drive, a scenic mountainous drive with views of the Atlantic Ocean and nearby mountains. A visit to Boulders Beach to see the adorable penguin colony is a favorite amongst visitors. The Cape Winelands offers wine estate tours and wine tastings, and scenic towns with their architectural heritage of Cape Dutch style buildings. The city has several notable cultural and heritage attractions. Robben Island is a poignant experience as visitors see where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were imprisoned. Township tours of the Cape Flats and Khayelitsha provide insight into life in these vibrant communities. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is one of the city's most popular shopping venues, with several hundred shops and the Two Oceans Aquarium.
