Day 1 - Kilimanjaro/Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are welcomed by a special meet & greet representative holding a sign with your name on it, at the immigration point, and assisted with immigration formalities. After collecting your luggage, you will be accompanied through customs, into the arrival’s hall, where you will be met by a Lion World Travel representative and transferred to your hotel, the 4-star Arusha Serena Hotel Resort & Spa.

Nestled at the foot of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, the hotel is set amid coffee plantations on the shores of tranquil Lake Duluti. You have the rest of the day at leisure.

Other room amenities include a ceiling fan, tea and coffee making facilities and flat screened tv with satellite channels. A safety deposit box is available at guest services. The bar and restaurant have an elegant, yet relaxed ambience with blazing log fires and views of the lake and garden. Cuisine includes local and international dishes. The hotel also has a lounge, library, boutique and business center.

Day 2 - Arusha/Lake Manyara

After breakfast at the hotel you will depart on your drive to Lake Manyara, by driving across the Rift Valley, arriving at the lodge in time for lunch.

In the afternoon take a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Stretching for 31 miles along the base of the rusty-gold Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting praised by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.

The dense game-viewing circuit through Manyara offers a small-scale version of the Tanzanian safari experience. In the park the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys dart nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk noisily in the high canopy.

Return to the lodge in time to freshen up before dinner.

The rooms of Lake Manyara Serena Lodge are housed in white-washed ‘rondavels' (traditional circular buildings with thatched roofs), which are situated along the edge of the cliff so as to allow for the best views. Each spacious room has its own small veranda while the interior décor reflects the blue of the lake and the pink of the flamingos.
