Day 02
Today you will be taken on a half day Winelands tour.

While South Africa's fertile valleys are world famous for their crisp white and classic French-style red wines, the Winelands area is also a treasury of rustic beauty and sprawling estates shaded by giant oak trees. Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa and the historic heart of the country's wine region, surrounded by stunning wine estates.
The backdrop of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, the white gabled Cape Dutch homesteads and the oak-lined streets and lanes all blend in to give this place a charm that will not be quickly forgotten.
See some of the wine estates that were developed by early settlers who produced the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismarck and Edward VII. Stop for a wine-tasting on an estate, where you will have the opportunity to purchase some of the wines.

Day 03
Today is a day of leisure to enjoy the wonderful city of Cape Town.

Cape Town is a city with a diverse range of attractions, sights and activities to offer and has something for everyone. From the landmark beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay to the vibrant V&A Waterfront and Cape Town city center - time spent in Cape Town will not be forgotten. The Mother City is a place where old and new harmoniously converge - in history, architecture, cultural pursuits and the essence of its people.
The City is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge - Indian and Atlantic. Natural beauty and the fast pace and bright lights of a great urban center meld effortlessly here.
Accommodation: Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa (B)
Day 04
Spend your last day of leisure in Cape Town perhaps doing some shopping or visiting one of the many places of interest.

Cape Town offers historic and cultural sites, world-class museums and bustling markets, inviting beaches and lush gardens, as well as great restaurants and wonderful shopping. While South Africa is perhaps best known for its game parks and natural splendours, it is also a land whose cities exude urban sophistication, rich in history, the arts, entertainment and other cosmopolitan delights.
Accommodation: Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa (B)
Day 05
Today you will be transferred from your Hotel to Cape Town Airport in time for your scheduled flight to Durban (flights not included). On arrival at Durban's King Shaka Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Umhlanga Rocks, north of Durban.

The Oyster Box Hotel, originally built in 1947 and set in lush gardens overlooking the Indian Ocean, reopened after a two-year makeover as a long overdue luxury addition to KwaZulu-Natal's tropical northern coast. The renovation enhanced its colonial character while adding modern essentials including two pools, a spa and gym.
Throughout the hotel, handcrafted, decorative tiles and antiques from the original property are offset by contemporary South African art. Durban's melting-pot heritage, particularly its Indian culture, is reflected in many aspects of the hotel, from the friendly, proud-as-punch staff to cuisine.
The colonial Palm Court serves traditional English high tea. Durban's style mavens have practically colonized the Lighthouse Bar, which leaves the breezy Oyster Bar or cozy Chukka Bar for a quiet drink.
Accommodation: Oyster Box Hotel (B)
Day 06
Enjoy a day of leisure.

Umhlanga Rocks forms part of the Sugar Coast. The name 'Umhlanga' means 'Place of Reeds' and is also well known for its landmark lighthouse, golden beaches, beautiful parks and delicious cuisine, making Umhlanga one of KwaZulu-Natal's prime upmarket holiday destinations north of Durban. The Natal coast is very tropical with warm weather all year round, due to the warm Indian Ocean, and the coastline offers some of the best surfing anywhere in the world.
Accommodation: Oyster Box Hotel (B)
Day 07
After breakfast you will be transferred from the Oyster Box Hotel to Three Tree Hill Lodge.

Three Tree Hill Lodge is a historic and impressive lodge in a secluded environment with a superb location, and has the majestic Drakensberg Mountains as its backdrop. Individual colonial style 'wood and iron' rooms with outstanding views, even from the bath, overlook the Spioenkop Nature Reserve and Spioenkop Battlefield.

In keeping with the historic atmosphere, Three Tree Hill Lodge has been constructed to resemble the housing kits brought out from Britain in the nineteenth century. This lodge is stylish and extremely comfortable, with absolutely no luxury spared. Three Tree Hill Lodge's cottages are spacious and each is equipped with full en-suite facilities. Each cottage has a veranda and they have been positioned so as to give you splendid views across Spioenkop. There is also a viewing deck, from which white Rhino and Giraffe are often spotted.

Day 08
Three Tree Hill Lodge specialises in the history of the 2nd Anglo-Boer War from (1899 - 1902) with the Battle of Spioenkop being the focal point. The guides bring this dramatic period of history to life presenting world class, holistic, evocative and insightful tours.

Battle of Spioenkop
Romantically situated on top of a hill with views that redefine "big sky country", the tour tells of the bloodiest day of the war, played out by a cast seldom challenged. On that hill were Louis Botha (the 1st Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa), Winston Churchill (voted the most famous Briton of the 20th century) and Mohandas Ghandi (the future Mahatma). The result of this battle confirmed that those early disasters of "Black Week" were not merely beginners luck on behalf of the Boers - Spioenkop is arguably the most famous of all battles between the British and the Boers.

The tour starts from the Lodge at 08:30am, after an early breakfast. You will spend two hours exploring the summit, listening to the compelling tale that unfolds on this emotive hill. After refreshments you return to the Lodge in time for lunch.

After lunch, the tour departs at 02:30pm for the site of Winston Churchill's capture, where the Boer forces took him prisoner. This event propelled him onto the political stage in Britain. The tour then proceeds to the site of the Battle of Colenso, where General Sir Redvers Buller suffered his first defeat in his attempt to relieve Ladysmith. In this battle 7 Victoria Crosses were won. Tour returns at approximately 06:30pm.
Accommodation: Three Tree Hill Lodge (B, L, D)
Day 09
After breakfast you will be transferred to Mkuze Falls. In the evening you will be taken on your first open-vehicle game drive in Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve.

The Mkuze Falls Tented Lodge is for an adventurous experience in five "Hemingway" style East African Tents, each overlooking the Mkuze River. The tents are built on wooden decks raised on stilts with beautiful views of the lush countryside. The facilities include a lounge, bar, boma and swimming pool. Starlit evenings are enjoyed in the boma and the sounds of the Zulu drumbeat beckon the pure spirit of Africa. The evening air is broken by the call of the Night Jar, the sounds of Zebra in the distance, the unexpected roar of the Lion and the trumpet of the Elephant. The pure sounds of Africa at her best!

Each tent is air-conditioned and has a private game viewing deck with spectacular views of the Lowveld bushveld and shimmering waters of the river where numerous antelope and other wildlife frequent. The atmosphere experienced in this Safari Lodge is an awesome sense of Africa, its nature, and beauty. It is where its history of the wild comes to life and captures the free-spirited peace. Enjoy starlit evenings in the boma, or on the bar deck or make use of the cozy dining room! The tented lodge provides a true African adventure with utmost comfort and style.
Accommodation: Mkuze Falls Tented Lodge (B, L, D)
Day 10
Enjoy an early morning open-vehicle game drive in this spectacular wildlife kingdom. Spend the hottest part of the day relaxing around the pool or perhaps take a siesta to make up for the early morning wake-up call. In the evening you will be taken on another unforgettable safari through this African paradise.

Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve is strategically positioned between the Kruger National Park and Zululand Coast - the same Africa but different worlds. Situated in the heart of historic Zululand in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, Mkuze Falls is one of only two Private Game Reserves in the region where you can view the 'Big Five' - Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard; and for bird lovers, many species of birds are resident. Experience the unique richness that this peaceful part of Africa has to offer. It is a place of pure tastes and simple delights, celebrating the thrill of nature.
