Day 3
Enjoy a day of leisure to explore the fascinating city of Cape Town.
Additional sightseeing tours can be pre-arranged. Please ask your consultant for information.
Cape Town is a city with a diverse range of attractions, sights and activities to offer and it has something for everyone. From the landmark beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay to the vibrant V&A Waterfront and Cape Town city centre, the award-winning wine farms of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek - time spent in Cape Town will not be forgotten.
During your stay you will enjoy one dinner - A Cape Malay South African Braai. The word braai is Afrikaans for "barbecue" or "grill" and is a social custom in South Africa.
This is a communal event which is casual and laid-back. Meats are the star of the South African braai. The other main part of the meal in some regions of the country is "pap" (porridge). Made from finely ground corn/maize (similar to polenta), it is a staple of local African communities and is usually eaten with a tomato and onion sauce.

Please Note: Luggage on the Kruger-Mpumalanga flights is restricted to 20kg/44lbs
Lion Sands 1933 Lodge encapsulates both the warm, personal ambience associated with a family owned lodge and a world class luxury safari experience.
The lodge's large windows, sliding doors and muted colours mirror the surrounding landscape and create a seamless, indoor-outdoor flow. Timber, thatch and screed flooring add earthy charm to the interior, where the decor is classic-contemporary.
Take the lounge, for instance, with its natural fibres, oversized chairs and open fireplace that together create a haven for relaxation. The kitchen is ideal as it opens onto a dining area that's equally suited to informal family meals or a banquet affair. All of these public areas open onto a large, wraparound wooden deck and lap-size swimming pool.
Nestling on the banks of the Sabie River, 1933 represents a secluded environment where comfort and relaxation are the order of the day. There are four spacious suites, each with their own private view of the Sabie River. The bathrooms are just as inviting, courtesy of their double vanity units, elegant bath and outdoor showers. There is also a children's dormitory, able to sleep up to 8 children, with his and hers bathroom and an inter-leading bedroom for an au-pair.
If this sounds like your dream home, that's exactly what 1933 at Lion Sands strives to be: a gracious home away from home with a few added luxuries, including your own private chef and ranger, with the exclusive use of a 4x4 Landrover for safari game drives.
What really sets 1933 at Lion Sands apart from any other safari lodge is its prime setting on the canopied banks of the Sabie River.
This afternoon take part in an open vehicle game drive in a private Landrover with the services of your own Ranger and tracker.

Day 7
This morning you will depart on an early morning game drive. On your return indulge in a leisurely breakfast and then spend the day enjoying the peace and tranquility of your surroundings.
Lion Sands is the only private game reserve to have access to the perennial Sabie River, which it shares with Kruger National Park. The property's geographical location is an area of great diversity of both fauna and flora and affords guests the opportunity of partaking in the unique activities based around the River system and surrounding area. The six miles of riverfront ensures a great diversity of wildlife and promises an African safari of a lifetime. Lion Sands is home to magnificent wildlife, including the "Big Five" - Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Lion.
Later in the day you will enjoy a demonstration on how to prepare Potjie. In South Africa, Potjiekos literally translated "food of a small pot", is a stew prepared outdoors, over an open fire, in a traditional round, cast iron, three-legged pot. The pot is heated efficiently using small amounts of wood or charcoal.
Traditionally, the recipe includes meat, vegetables, starches like rice or potatoes, all slow-cooked with Dutch-Malay spices, the distinctive spicing of South Africa's early culinary melting pot.
In the late afternoon you will enjoy another game viewing activity in this wilderness paradise.
